We are an informally organized group of friends who enjoy making trips to the desert, most often the sand dunes. We rely on the website www.inlandempireoffroad.org for communication about our upcoming trips, and thus do not have to worry about paid dues and membership. Come ride with us and be part of the group.
Group Events:
During our larger trips we have “pot luck” events where everyone who wants to brings some food for everybody. Traditionally we do this for Thanksgiving Dinner and during near New Year’s Eve. We do attempt to coordinate a list of who is bringing what via the website and trip forums to make sure that all the basics are covered. Watch the website for details. We also often have “Freezer Bag Omelet” breakfasts in camp during most trips. For these events people bring eggs and omelet ingredients to share, and everyone can prepare their own omelet by placing the ingredients of their choice in a freezer bag with their name on it. Placing the bag in a large pot of boiling water for 15-20 minutes results in a custom made omelet with very little work, and gives everyone a chance to get up and socialize before a morning ride. Look for details on the website about when we’ll be doing omelets for each trip.
Rides:
On our rides, our number one priority is to make sure everyone makes it back to camp. To help with this, please watch for the person behind you. If they are not there, stop and the group will come back. We use VHF radios to help with communication as well, and will establish a frequency for use on a ride. Making sure that the leader knows the group is all together makes the rides better for everybody. On larger trips, air horns may be used to announce upcoming rides. 3 blasts indicates 30 minutes until the ride, 2 blasts indicates 15 minutes, and 1 blast means it is time to get in and go. Since we have a variety of vehicle types and skill levels on our trips, there may often be multiple different rides during the day. Talk with the ride leader to make sure the ride will meet your expectations. In general, avoid passing during the rides.
Club Flags:
Flags with the Blue, White and Red pennants and the club logo are available for purchase. Ask about the options currently available.
